How should a rechargeable battery be stored?

The recommended temperature range for long-term storage is between +10°C and +30°C at a relative humidity of 50%. A normal refrigerator at +8°C can be used for extended periods of storage, since that minimizes the degree of self-discharge.

Is there anything special that you need to know when handing in used rechargeable batteries ?

Please only throw discharged batteries - of any type - into the collecting boxes in shops or municipal collection points. As a rule, the batteries are only fully discharged when the device switches itself off and displays "Battery empty" or if the device no longer functions properly after a longer period of use. If you have any doubts as to whether the batteries are fully discharged, put some adhesive tape over the battery terminals or put the batteries in a plastic bag. The same applies in general as well to non-rechargeable lithium batteries (block-type, round, or button cells).
